TRAVELLING TO AVEIRO
Aveiro is in the center of Portugal, near the coast. The city’s strategic location makes it a convenient stop for travelers exploring the diverse regions of Portugal, from the historic charmeuse city of Porto to the vibrant culture of Lisbon capital.
Situated approximately midway between these two major cities with airports, Porto (86 km) and Lisbon (248 km), Aveiro offers convenient accessibility through well-connected railways and highways.

FROM PORTO'S AIRPORT
The best options for traveling to Aveiro are by train or car.
If you choose the train, get to Campanhã Railway Station. Once in the Francisco Sá Carneiro airport, you can do it by taking the subway (Metro). Once in Campanhã, the journey time varies between 30 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on the type of train you choose to travel. At Aveiro train station, walk to your destination (~20 min to the University of Aveiro or city center), or catch a taxi or an Uber to your destination.
If you prefer rent a car and driving from the airport, take the VRI route and follow the signs to A1 highway in the direction of Lisbon. Take exit 16 to A25 towards Aveiro and continue A25, following signs for Aveiro/Zona Portuária (avoid A17). Finally, take exit 3 to reach Aveiro’s city center.
FROM LISBON'S AIRPORT
The best options for traveling to Aveiro are also by train or car, although buses are also operating (see below the companies).
If you choose the train, travel from Oriente Railway Station. If you are at the airport, take the subway (Metro) from the airport to Oriente Station (Red Line). There are two types of trains directly to Aveiro: Alfa Pendular or Intercidades. The journey time varies between 2 hours and 2 hours and 30 minutes, respectively. Once in the city station, you can walk to your destination (~20 min to the University of Aveiro or city center), or catch a taxi or an Uber to your destination.
If you prefer rent a car and driving from the airport, follow the A1 highway in the direction of Porto. Take exit 15 to N235 towards Aveiro and you will enter the city through the University of Aveiro route.
